Former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has admonished Christians to use the Christmas celebrations as a period to pray for a more united and peaceful Nigeria.
He urged them to see the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ as a time to demonstrate love, peace and unity among Nigerians, irrespective of religious, political and regional convictions for national greatness.
Akpabio made the call in his Christmas message and also called on Nigerians to continue to pray for their leaders at all levels of governance for them to succeed in office.
The national vice chairman of the APC Presidential Campaign Council said: “Let me congratulate the Christian faithful all over the world, particularly Nigerians, on this year’s celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.
“Let us also be reminded not allow the real reasons behind the birth of Jesus Christ to be lost as we celebrate today. We all need to exhibit all the qualities of Jesus Christ, which are unity, peace and love for the celebration to make any meaning.
“It is my prayer during this yuletide period and the coming new year 2023 that we will continue to maintain peace and remain solid behind our leaders at all levels.”
Akpabio, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Jackson Udom, further said: “As we prepare to usher in year 2023, I pray that it would be a year of a new positive beginning for this great country and the world in general.
“Let us pray for the peaceful conduct of the 2023 general election and a peaceful trasition that will usher in leaders that would take us to where we want to be in the comity of nations.”
