The ward executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ukana West II, Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State have unanimously passed a vote of confidence on President Muhammadu Buhari and Senator Godswill Akpabio.
In a communique issued at the end of its meeting last Saturday, the 25-member APC executive particularly affirmed Akpabio as the party leader in Ukana West II, Essien Udim Local Government Area and Akwa Ibom State as a whole.
According to the party executives, the unanimous decision to pass vote of confidence on the party leaders at different levels is to spur and continue to encourage them to use their leadership positions in the party to develop, direct and move Nigeria forward.
They thanked the president for his support for Akpabio, noting that this has helped him to record some notable feats as a minister and especially in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
Having witnessed numerous laudable programs initiated by the APC-led administration since 2015, the executives said President Buhari and Senator Akpabio are worthy leaders who should be encouraged to continue with their good works.
Among other achievements, they listed the 774,000 special work creation for youths; Npower; recent commissioning of NDDC Headquarters in Port Harcourt, To vers State; the on-going construction work on the East-West Road, aimed at positioning, connecting and stimulating economic ties among states within and outside the Niger Delta region.
“We note, with a sense of pride, the recent commissioning of the NDDC Headquarters Complex-a rare feat which has renewed the common aspirations of Niger Deltans and lends credence to the determination of Mr President in giving the region a facelift-anchored on economic renaissance, infrastructural development, security and actualisation of the Niger Delta Master plan.
“The APC ward executive of Ukana West II in Essien Udim Local Government Area is delighted and happy with the appointment of our son and leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio, into the Federal Executive Council, as Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, by our amiable President Muhammadu Buhari, which has enabled him to continue to contribute his quota to the development of the Niger Delta and Nigeria.
“We therefore, reiterate our unalloyed support for President Buhari, as he strives to deliver dividends of democracy to Nigerians.
“We also charge our son and leader, Senator Akpabio, to continue to support the plans of Mr President for the region, because, as a former governor of the state, he showed the capacity and experience on how to get things done in the region.
“It was the president’s support and backing for our son that led to the historic commissioning of the abandoned Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) headquarters in less than two years in office.
“We, the APC, Ukana West II, Essien Udom Chapter, hereby pass a vote of confidence on President Muhammadu Buhari. We have also passed a vote of confidence on the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, as the leader of our party in Akwa Ibom State, Essien Udim Local Government Area and Ukana West Ward II,” the communique read in part.
The vote of confidence, the APC executive in Ukana West II said, “is for our son and leader to continue in your legacy of leadership delivery, and we are solidly behind you.”
