Obuah Extols Late Emeritus Professor Augustine Ahiauzu
The Sole Administrator of the Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA), Bro. Felix Obuah, has described the late Emeritus Professor Augustine Ikechukwu Ahiauzu as a unique human who will always be remembered for living a worthy, exemplary and utilitarian life.
He said this in a statement by his media aide, Jerry Needam, extolling the virtues of the former Vice Chancellor of the then Rivers State University of Science and Technology (now Rivers State University), adding that though dead, the late Ahiauzu will never be forgotten for his high quality life.
Obuah, a former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, described the late Emeritus Professor as an ‘Academic Iroko’ who will be missed by all Nigerians and the Diasporas, especially in United Kingdom where he obtained his Masters and Doctorate degrees.
He applauded the sense of commitment of the late Ahiauzu to the cause of humanity, regretting that his demise has however left a vacuum that would be difficult to fill.
The RIWAMA boss further described the late academic and administrator as a seasoned scholar and teacher who used his career to produce some of the best human resources in the state.
He charged the Ahiauzu family to uphold their faith as Christians and mourn their departed father, believing that he is in safer hands of his Creator and that they all will meet again on the resurrection day.
The Sole Administrator of RIWAMA also called on them to take solace in the fact that the late Emeritus Professor Ahiauzu, who published over 10 books and academic journals to his credit, lived a life worthy of emulation and also left legacies not only for his children, but also for those yet unborn.
“He was a pace-setter, an academic guru and a positive influence, not only on his immediate family, but also on the Ogba and Rivers people as well as Nigerians in general. He would be missed but our prayers go to his family for God’s guidance, protection and continuous provisions”, Obuah prayed.
