Gerald Chukwunonso Okoro, a graduate of Law, emerged the winner of a three-bedroom house, courtesy of the ongoing Glo Festival of Joy Promo.
For Okoro, 2022 ended on a low note as he battled the challenges of life. But his story changed on Thursday, January 5, as his Glo number was drawn as the winner of the three-bedroom apartment in a choice area in Enugu, Enugu State.
The keys to the apartment were presented to him at a colourful event today, Friday, January 6, in the town.
An ecstatic Okoro was full of excitement as he got to the Gloworld, Polo Park Shop in Enugu, less than 30 minutes after he was called to inform him of his fortune.
The Law graduate disclosed that he had just paid for a rented apartment and was worried about how to mobilise funds to furnish the place.
Besides, his sister had been on admission in the hospital and he had been there with her for days until the fateful call came from Globacom.
“For about a month now, we have been going through a lot, attending to her
in the hospital. It is Globacom that has brought such good news to
brighten the horizon.
“This is the first joyous thing giving us hope this year. Every member of the family is delighted,” he disclosed.
Okoro said God and Glo work in special ways as he was not expecting something so great so suddenly.
He disclosed that he was overwhelmed by the problems the family was going through and thus put off calls to his line several times before finally answering.
“I am still in shock. My head is spinning. It is like a mirage. I opted to take part in the promo, but with what I have been going through caring for my sister in the
hospital, the last thing on my mind was such a call from Globacom,” he said.
The 25-year-old Okoro is not in a hurry to go to Law School, as, according to him, he has been heavily involved in organising shows and handling models for some time now.
Asked if he planned to get married
soon since he is now a house owner, he said: “Marriage is not in the dictionary for now.”
The Special Guest at the ceremony, Enugu State Commissioner for Science and Technology, Chief Obi Kama, lauded Globacom for packaging such a huge subscriber-reward programme.
“Globacom has done well having the
interest of its subscribers at heart and delivering great prizes to them just for using their lines,” he noted.
Mr Oliver Maduka, who is the Coordinator of the Enugu Zonal Office of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC), said the NLRC had been keenly following the promo.
He disclosed that the Commission had been very impressed with Globacom for
keeping faith with its promise to subscribers.
“What Glo is doing is second to none. Glo has been doing its promos the right way. I am so excited for the winner because he emerged from a very transparent process. It is a level playing field and anyone can win,” he said.
In his address at the event, Globacom’s Regional Manager, Mr Mike Ehumadu, disclosed that, apart from the houses, the Glo Festival of Joy promo is also offering thousands of other amazing prizes.
The prizes, he said, included brand new cars, power generators, sewing machines and rechargeable fans which he said are being offered to subscribers.
“To participate in this promo, voice and data, customers just have to dial the dedicated short code *611# and recharge with N500 weekly.
“(They should do this) to stand a chance to win the rechargeable fan, N2,500 monthly recharge for the sewing machine; N5,000 monthly recharge for the generator; N10,000 monthly recharge for the car and data subscription(s) of, at least, N20,000 during the promo period for the house,” he added.
