Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba (Senator) Lekan Balogun, Alli Okinmade II, has commended the choice of Chief Olukayode Obisesan as the Mogaji Aperin Obisesan Family of Orita-Aperin in Ibadan North-East Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The traditional ruler further said the subsequent installation of Chief Obisesan as mogaji was a perfect choice and forward-looking by the family and worthy of commendation.
The Olubadan made the remarks during a visitation made by the family, led by Professor Abimbola Obisesan, to rejoice with the traditional ruler at his Alarere residence on his recent 80th birthday celebration.
Oba Balogun, in a press statement by Personal Assistant (Media), Oladele Ogunsola, hinged his remarks on the activities of the mogaji in the family as well as his comportment which made him a darling of the entire Aperin Obisesan Family.
He noted that his knowledge of the various developmental projects the mogaji had instituted convinced him that the future of Ibadanland is well secured.
Oba Balogun said: “The Palace is aware and was even represented at the commissioning of Aperin Obisesan Comfort Centre, the first of its kind to be championed by an individual and how effectively functional it has been.
“It is aware of the borehole providing water for the community; the proposed police station and health centre; your efforts in the area of education and the establishment of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) which is aimed at combating youths idleness among others.
“I congratulate your family for the choice of this kind of selfless, committed and patriotic young and energetic personality, who possesses every inch of the quality somebody like me look for in who comes into the Olubadan Chieftaincy hierarchy, and by the power of our ancestors, his time would not elude him.
“Your Mogaji is a role model and somebody to be proud of and recommend to his colleague-mogajis to emulate his commitment to the growth, progress and development of his fatherland.”
The Olubadan disclosed that the information at his disposal revealed that, just as mogaji has been committed to the well-being of his people, so also his amiable wife, Chief Mrs. Aduke Kechiyere Obisesan has been up and doing to put smiles on the faces of the people.
He said: “I got to know that the amiable wife of our mogaji had distributed exercise books and pens as well as sanitary pads to school children in the villages under the Aperin territory in Ona-Ara Local Government Area.
“These are in addition to the creation of awareness among the women folks on the prevalence of breast cancer, what to do to detect it early and the need to seek medicare without delay. The same goes for prostate cancer among the male folks.”
The leader of the delegation, Professor Obisesan, who delivered the birthday message on behalf of Aperin Obisesan Family, expressed gratitude to God for the live of Olubadan.
He described the Olubadan as the wonder of God when one looks at his life trajectory and his ascension of the Olubadan throne.
Describing him as a highly qualified personality to be an Oba, the egg-head said, “our revered royal gather is the kind of oba we need in Ibadan, knowledgeable, exposed, sociable and highly hospitable.
“Ibadan is unique, a conglomeration of different people living peacefully with a unique chieftaincy system.
“I have read a lot about the intricacies in Ibadan, but, we are thankful to our ancestors for instituting the very unique traditional system that has been enduring and which produced our reigning oba for which I am very happy about.
“It is a system that truly manifests the awesomeness of God as well as His commitment to men’s affairs, because He is the only power that determines who mounts the throne and how long one stays there.”
Professor Obisesan thanked the Olubadan for the compliments on the choice of mogaji by his family and expressed gratitude to him for the recognising Mogaji Olukayode Obisesan as a worthy and capable person that fits being in Olubadan ascension hierarchy.
He said the recognition of the mogaji by Olubadan was not a misplaced one, adding: “I am not following him all about just for the fun of it, but for what I have seen in him as a honest, straight-forward and dependable person
“And this is why the whole family solidly unite behind him. He has been playing the role very well and we are all committed to his cause.”
In his short remark, Mogaji Olukayode Obisesan thanked God for the grace received by Olubadan to attain the new age of 80 years and prayed that he see many more of it in sound and robust health.
He used the occasion to thank his family for theor support and cooperation and promise that he would continue to use his God-given opportunities to attend to their well-being, soliciting for their prayers to be able to meet their expected needs.
