The 2022 edition of the World Twins Festival will hold in Igboora, Ibarapa Area of Oyo State on October 8.
The state governor, Engineer ‘Seyi Makinde, major stakeholders and hosts of tourism enthusiasts from across the globe are expected to grace the event.
This is contained in a statement jointly signed and issued by the initiators of Twins Tourism, Taiwo and Kehinde Oguntoye.
The duo added in the statement that the festival was aimed at celebrating the unique beings and other multiple births from all walks of life.
The 2022 edition of the festival, with the theme “Twinning for World Economic Recovery”, is aimed at celebrating the uniqueness of multiple births held annually in Igboora, a town famous for having the world largest concentration of living multiple births.
The Oguntoye twin stated that the 2022 edition of the festival would be the first after the demise of its grand patron and regular attendee, late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III.
“The festival would celebrate specially the lifetime of the late Oba Adeyemi who fathered a set of triplet and some sets of twins.
“The Olu of Igboora, Oba Jimoh Titiloye, would lead all the traditional rulers in the area to welcome all and sundry to the special occasion.
“The event would feature twins fashion show, twins parade, talent show, festival art exhibition, circus performance and regular features of twins cuisines among others.
“The event, scheduled to hold on October 8 at the event arena of Methodist Grammar School, Igboora, is welcome back from the COVID-19 pandemic which ravaged the entire world,” it was stated in the statement.
The Oguntoyes, who are famous twin in African tourism and reverred tourism ambassadors, called on brands and corporate organizations to activate sponsorship.
They also called on would-be sponsors to engage in brand promotion at the festival which the twin said would be the biggest of its kind.
