Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Professor Adeolu Akande, has said the Ibadan metropolis will witness uncommon grace and development during the reign of the new Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba (Dr) Mohood Lekan Ishola Balogun Alli Okunmade II.
The professor of Comparative Politics made this known in a personal congratulatory message to Oba Balogun on his installation as the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The NCC chairman also congratulated all sons and daughters and residents of Ibadanland on the occasion of the installation of Oba (Dr) Mohood Olalekan Balogun.
Professor Akande expressed joy that Ibadanland has sustained its age-long tradition of a hitch-free succession plan to the Olubadan stool.
“It is my pleasure and privilege to felicitate with the Olubadan of Ibadanland on his ascension to the throne of his forbearers. This is a rare occurrence in Ibadanland.
“Today, Senator Lekan Balogun is being installed as the Olubadan of Ibadanland, 70 years after his grandfather has occupied the exalted position. Only a very few family compounds have enjoyed this uncommon opportunities in the history of Ibadanland.
“It is the grace of God that Oba Lekan Balogun is enjoying. He is, indeed, a man of destiny. I have related with Baba for over four decades and i have no shred of doubt that Ibadanland will witness uncommon grace and development during his reign.
“I have known the new Olubadan for over four decades as a scholar, businessman, publisher, social critic and politician. He also has varied work experience in the corporate world.
“I am confident that Kabiyesi will bring all these to bear in making Ibadan greater. I pray God grant Kabiyesi long life and good health to succeed as a philosopher-king,” Akande added.
