Man, 43, Arraigned For Alleged Shop Breaking, Stealing
Samuel Olawale, 43-year-old, has been arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti-State Chief Magistrates’ Court for alleged shop breaking and stealing.
Olawale, whose address was not given, is facing a two-count charge of shop breaking and stealing.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Olubu Apata, told the court that the defendant committed the offence at about 9pm, on 29 November, 2021 at the Omisanjana Area in Ado-Ekiti.
Apata alleged that the defendant broke into the shop of one Amonaoko Emmanuel, adding that the defendant stole generator diesel engine, valued at N120,000 and belonging to the complainant.
According to the police prosecutor, the offences contravenes Sections 413(1) and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him to study the case file and assemble his witnesses.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him, as his counsel, Mr Gbenga Ariyibi, urged the court to grant his client bail, with a promise that the defendant would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Bankole Oluwasanmi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until 12 January, 2021 for hearing.
