Broda Shaggi, the Nigerian comedian and actor whose real name is Samuel Perry, recounted his experience after being hit by a stray bullet last March, saying he was afraid that his fans may forget him after the ordeal.

Broda Shaggi and his greatest fear
He disclosed in a video shared on his YouTube channel on Wednesday, revealing how the incident left him uncertain about his future in the entertainment industry.
Shaggi also narrated the incident, his medical treatment and the emotional challenges he faced during months away from work.
As reported then by PUNCH, the shooting incident occurred on 9 March, 2026, while the entertainer was returning from a brand activation assignment around the Sango-Ota Bridge Area of Ogun State.
Recounting the incident, Shaggi said he was in a vehicle with members of his team when he heard a loud bang amid traffic congestion.
He said he initially struggled to understand what had happened before realising that he had been injured.
The comedian recalled losing consciousness before reaching the hospital, adding that his immediate concern was surviving the incident.
“I was totally unconscious till we got to the hospital,” he said, explaining that he could only remember praying as he was being taken for medical attention.
Shaggi said he was initially taken to a hospital where he received first aid before being transferred to another facility for further treatment.
He described the uncertainty surrounding his condition as particularly frightening, saying he wanted medical personnel to reassure him that he would recover.
The injury subsequently raised concerns about his ability to continue his career, particularly because his comedy performances often involve dancing and other physical activities.
Broda Shaggi explained that he began wondering whether he would ever be able to perform as he had done before the incident.
The entertainer also reflected on the demanding schedule he had maintained over the years, saying he had rarely taken time off since 2018.
“Since 2018 till date I never rest. It’s always back to back. If I’m not writing I’m shooting. If I’m not shooting, I’m in the studio making music,” he said.
His prolonged absence from entertainment activities also affected him emotionally, as he wrote that he became worried that his audience might forget him while other entertainers continued producing content.
He said watching videos of his colleagues during his recovery sometimes left him emotional because he was uncertain whether he would regain the ability to do the things they were doing.
Despite the challenges, Shaggi said he tried to remain productive during his hospitalisation by writing and working on content for a YouTube series.
The comedian disclosed that he underwent surgery in Nigeria but later traveled to Dubai for further treatment after continuing to experience difficulties with his injured leg.
According to his account, his condition improved following the procedure in Dubai.
He said he was able to stand with support on the second day after surgery and walk with crutches on the third day.
However, Shaggi clarified that his recovery was still ongoing, noting that, although he could now stand without crutches, he continued to rely on them for support.
Reflecting on the incident, the entertainer expressed gratitude that the bullet had not struck more vital parts of his body.
He described surviving the experience as a second chance at life and said he was looking forward to returning to the screen with new projects.
“I’m grateful to be alive. It’s second chance. You should also be grateful to have Shaggi back on your screen because right now I’m coming with exciting projects,” he said.
The comedian has indicated that he was preparing to resume work as he continued with his recovery.
