This was as the state government has confirmed that the chairmanship and councillorship election will hold in the 33 local government areas on 29 December, 2026.
The state Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, made this known in Tuesday in a statement detailing the outcome of the weekly State Executive Council meeting.
He further disclosed that the Executive Council, during its sitting, approved the payment of its counterpart funding to OYSIEC to commence preparations for the exercise.
Oyelade added that the LG poll will be financed at the ratio of 60 per cent by the LGAs and 40 per cent by the state.

It will also enable the university to become self-sustaining, it was stated in the release.
The university is currently in the final accreditation process and failure to meet the Nursing Professional Accreditation deadline will put the huge investment on the institution at risk.
Prince Oyelade stated that the ‘Seyi Makinde administration has already spent over ₦3 billion naira on the acquisition of equipment for the take off of the programme.
According to the commissioner, the Council also approved the payment of the counterpart funding for the construction, renovation and equipping of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Oyo Annex.
He stated that the Council observed that since about 70 per cent of patients accessing services at the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso are from Oyo and its environs, the government was ready to pay its own 50 per cent counterpart funding.
The counterpart funding, he said, amounted to ₦6,744,379,570.28, while Oyo East Local Government Area will pay the other half of a similar amount.
The total sum, Oyelade added, was ₦13,488,759,140.56.
