Teachers Are Nation-Builders-Akande
Adeolu Akande, a professor of Comparative Politics, has described teachers as builders of nations who deserve special recognition by society.
Akande, who is also the chairman of the Board of Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), stated this in a statement on the celebrations of the 2021 edition of the Teachers’ Day.
He said teachers, whether as school teacher, college lecturer or even professor, are noble technocrats deserving to be celebrated.
“As such, I wish to congratulate all teachers on this auspicious occasion of their day. They are builders of nations.
“The role of teachers in nation-building cannot be over-emphasised. Our teachers need to continue to do more for us to progress as a people,” he stressed.
The NCC boss further commended President Muhammadu Buhari for moving the retirement age of teachers from 60 to 65.
According to Akande, the president, in recognition of the foundational roles teachers play in nation-building, has also approved enhanced salary scale for teachers.
He urged teachers to reciprocate the good gesture of President Buhari and his motivations by rededicating themselves to serving humanity through their nation- building efforts.
