“Unable to hide her disdain for Dr Olukoya and his church, Maureen Badejo has, once again, made what appeared to be a spurious, unfounded and baseless allegation against Olukoya and MFM in respect of the failed marriage of Chief Isaac Morakinyo Jolapamo and his estranged wife, Ms Funke Otti.”
How do you explain the case of a popular blogger, Maureen Badejo, who has been courting controversies, dragging the name of Dr DK Olukoya, the General Overseer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry (MFM) and the church in the mud? What can one say about an individual who is standing trial for mudslinging and what exactly could be the motivating factor for the blogger who is going through litigations and with a possible jail term dangling over her head for alleged cyberbullying?
The above questions and many more are begging for answers in an attempt to probe into the personality of Maureen Badejo, who have just been released on bail from Kirikiri Prison for alleged slandering and defamation of the popular pentecostal pastor.
Having just been released from prison, after she appeared to be remorseful and full of regrets for actions and utterances, Maureen Badejo has surprisingly returned to her old ways, the memories of her grueling moments in the prison apparently relegated to the background.
Maureen Badejo is far from being remorseful, as she has chosen to interfere in a case that has nothing to do, either with her person or with MFM. This time around, she decided to bare her fangs against thean who has been having the upper hands in all the litigations against her.
Unable to hide her disdain for Dr Olukoya and his church, Maureen Badejo has, once again, made what appeared to be a spurious, unfounded and baseless allegation against Olukoya and MFM in respect of recent court judgment on a case that involved a shipping magnate, Chief Isaac Morakinyo Jolapamo and his estranged wife, Ms Olufunke Otti.
She alleged in a recent video on social media that MFM (and, by extension, Dr Olukoya) were complicit in the separation of the husband and wife.
Just last week, a businesswoman and former member of staff the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Ms. Olufunke Otti, was ordered by the Lagos High Court to return a property she unlawfully acquired from her former husband, Chief Isaac Morakinyo Jolapamo.
Justice Olufolake Olufolashade Adewunmi-Oshin, in her ruling, declared that the property, located at Parkview Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos, rightfully belonged to Chief Jolapamo, and not Ms. Otti.
The court directed Ms. Otti to refund ₦410,347,000.00 to Chief Jolapamo, representing the outstanding balance from the proceeds of the sale of two vessels.
She was also ordered to remit ₦63,000,000.00, being the rental income collected from tenants between 2018 and 2021 and ₦5 million was also awarded in general damages against her.
Maureen Badejo, Otti, Jolapamo and MFM
Of truth, the relationship between Ms. Otti and Chief Jolapamo began at the MFM, where Chief Jolapamo was said to have gone in search of spiritual and personal support during a difficult period. Ms. Otti, a member of the church, met him there, and their relationship eventually developed into a romantic one. The couple formalised their union at the Federal Marriage Registry, Ikoyi, Lagos, on February 23, 2017.
According to details of the case, during the marriage, Chief Jolapamo entrusted his wife, Ms. Otti, with significant business responsibilities, including the sale of two vessels—M.T. MOR Prosperity and M.T. Power. He was also said to have instructed her to use the proceeds to acquire a matrimonial home in Parkview Estate, Ikoyi Lagos.
While Ms. Otti sold the vessels for ₦810,347,000.00 and purchased the property as directed, she, however, registered the property solely in her name, allegedly without her husband’s knowledge. The marriage was officially dissolved in April 2025 and there was no child between them before the dissolution.
Apart from the fact that the two met at MFM, there was no part in their story or the report, and in the course of the legal tussle that revealed that General Overseer Olukoya, or the MFM leadership, had any involvement in their marriage.
However, Maureen Badejo who has already been defeated in court by MFM over and over again and ordered to pay millions of naira in damages, suddenly jumped into the fray in another futile attempt to change the narrative by implying that Ms. Otti was a worker or female pastor in MFM who was assigned by some person of authority, possibly implying Dr. Olukoya, to get close to Chief Jolapamo so she could fleece him of his wealth.
The whole idea behind this dishonest and cruel claim is to attack MFM, yet again, and bring Dr. Olukoya’s hard earned reputation to disrepute. But, as usual, and for the umpteenth time, Maureen Badejo failed.
Maureen Badejo And Her Intent
What, again, is the intent of Maureen Badejo? Why is bent on destroying Dr. Olukoya? What integrity does she have to make such outrageous allegations against MFM?
As it is well known, Maureen Badejo is a convicted blogger who has been a serial loser in the cases filed against her by Dr. Olukoya and MFM. Some of these cases, which clearly tells her story are: the Ogun State High Court, in 2021, found her guilty of defaming MFM and Dr. Olukoya and was ordered to pay ₦500M;
A High Court in the UK dismissed her appeal as “hopeless and pointless” and ordered her to pay £100,000; back home here in Nigeria, a Lagos Federal High Court, just last March, remanded her in Kirikiri Prison for cyberstalking an MFM pastor.
However, and in spite of the losses in court, Maureen Badejo is making money through the social media. It was gathered that every time she goes on Instagram or YouTube to defame and slander innocent personalities such as Dr. Olukoya, she makes a lot of money because the unsuspecting public would go to her page to listen to whatever she is saying and inadvertently help her earn millions of naira at the end of the month from YouTube revenue.
She tried to spin a narrative about how Ms. Otti and Chief Jolapamo were ‘arranged’ to get involved with each other. But how the two met was very clear and straight forward.
Chief Jolapamo, facing a business crisis, had sought spiritual support at MFM like millions others do. He met Funke Otti, a regular member; not a minister, prayer warrior, or pastor and their relationship was private and consensual.
Dr. Olukoya was reported to have opposed the marriage. It was for this reason the couple left MFM for RCCG for their wedding. There was no MFM involvement, no church orchestration.
Holes In Maureen Badejo’s Claims
According to Badejo, Ms. Otti “was an MFM minister.” But there’ is no such record; she was only a regular member.
She claimed that Otti was “assigned to minister to him [Jolapamo] financially.” There is no such thing in MFM. This has never been the situation in the church. It is only from Badejo that everyone will be hearing this for the first time. What the couple had was consensual personal relationship, nothing more than that.
Her claim that “MFM endorsed the marriage” is absolutely untrue. Dr. Olukoya opposed it; and they left MFM for RCCG.
What Did The Court Say?
The March 26, 2026 judgment ruled on financial misappropriation within a marriage – nothing more. There was no blame on MFM; no talk about church orchestration; no description of Otti as an MFM minister. And there was nowhere during the divorce proceedings where it was mentioned that MFM or Dr. Olukoya profited from the millions Ms. Otti got from her marriage to Chief Jolapamo.
MFM Position On Maureen Badejo
Many may be wondering why Badejo is doing this. Well, she was said to be doing this not just because she is obsessed with pulling down MFM and Dr. Olukoya. She reportedly lost millions of naira when she was in prison, and is now desperate for money and relevance. For her, nothing brings money faster than attacking MFM.
However, for several members of the church, understanding her pain is not in any way a justification for her lies and treachery. Maureen Badejo is a shameless, pathological liar. She is also an unstable element whose cruel desire to pull down Olukoya and MFM at all cost has turned her into a cold-hearted monster.
In the MFM, the conviction is that she, along with her ally, Funke Ashekun, has tried several times to defeat MFM and Dr. Olukoya in court but they continue to fail and yet, she remained unyielding.
“But one thing is very clear: she and others in her camp will continue to fail in their pursuit of the fall of MFM and its founder.
“And if anything, they are the ones that are doomed for, possibly, the most fatal fall of their lives; the sort they may never recover from for the rest of their days. Surely, it is happening already,” a member enthused.
