The Ogun State Police Command has intensified proactive security measures across the state to ensure a peaceful Yuletide and Christmas festive season.
The Command deployed joint forces, operational assets, and a massive number of personnel, while strengthening patrols along major highways and strategic locations to ensure security and safeguard lives and property.
The state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, stated this in a press release by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, on Wednesday.
In furtherance of this objective, the Command conducted a robust joint show of force, in collaboration with the Lagos and Oyo State Police Commands, the military, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and other sister security agencies, particularly along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.
“This coordinated operation involved the deployment of patrol vehicles, tactical teams, and intelligence assets to reinforce security presence, reassure the public, and deter criminal activities.
“Special attention is being given to strategic routes, notably the Sagamu–Ijebu Ode Road, where coordinated joint operations with sister agencies are ongoing to ensure the safe movement of people, goods, and travelers before, during, and after the Yuletide celebrations, while sustaining law and order across the state,” it was stated.
The state Commissioner of Police, has also ordered the massive deployment of personnel for traffic control and operational duties during and after the festive period.
This was as the Command also was leveraging sustained synergy with all security agencies within the state for effective coverage and rapid response.
The Ogun Police Command assured the public that the security operations will continue throughout and beyond the Yuletide season.
It reiterated that the use of fireworks and bangers remains banned in the interest of public safety, and urges residents to celebrate responsibly and cooperate fully with security personnel.
