Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, will, on Friday, promote five Ibadan obas who were affected by his emergence and coronation as Olubadan on 26 September, 2025.
The promotion exercise, which is expected to draw dignitaries from different walks of life, will take place at the Olubadan Palace, Oke Aremo, Ibadan from 10.00 am.
As contained in a release on Thursday by Adeola Oloko, the media aide of Oba Ladoja, the promotion exercise will affect only the 21 chiefs on the Otun Olubadan line which produced the 44th Olubadan.
The first set of people to be promoted are the most seniors, including Osi Olubadan, Oba Eddy Oyewole who will be promoted to Otun Olubadan; Asipa Olubadan Kola-Daisi to be promoted to Osi Olubadan, while Ekerin Olubadan, Oba Hamidu Ajibade will become Asipa Olubadan.
Oba Muritala Adebayo Akande, erstwhile Ekarun Olubadan, will be promoted Ekerin Olubadan, while Chief Kola Babalola, SAN, Abese Olubadan will become Ekarun Olubadan.
“Very significant is that Chief Babalola will now join the elite Olubadan-in-council as a member,” Oloko stated in the release.
It was further disclosed that he exercise will take place following traditional knocking and expression of interest by those affected.
“Thus, in the exercise of his powers as the prescribed and consenting authority over all chieftaincy matters in Ibadanland, the Olubadan, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, is expected to preside over the ceremony to be performed by the Oluwo of Ibadanland.
“The Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, along with other monarchs are expected to join the Olubadan at the occasion,” Oloko added.
