PDP Crisis: Govs Silent On Secondus’ Fate
There is still suspense on the fate of Prince Uche Secondus to continue as the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) hangs in the balance as the governors elected on the platform of the party choose to remain silent on the issue.
As the crisis rocking the party rages on, there have been calls from several quarters and from the national deputy chairmen of the party for the resignation of Secondus from his position.
This was as the embattled PDP national chairman has declared that he would not resign as demanded, noting that he has done nothing wrong to warrant his leaving office before the expiration of his tenure.
The PDP governors, under the aegis of the PDP Governors’ Forum, had subsequently today, entered into a meeting ostensibly to address the leadership crisis within the party fold.
The spokesman of the PDP governors, Governor Waziri Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, only kept party faithful and Nigerians on further suspense as he said the meeting would continue tomorrow, without addressing the issue of Secondus.
Addressing newsmen on behalf of his governor-colleagues, Tambuwal said: “As you can see, we are just rising from the emergency meeting of the PDP Governors’ Forum where we have discussed extensively on matters of the moment concerning our party.
“And we have collectively resolved to continue to work together in unity and this meeting will continue tomorrow with other stakeholders.
“And very soon, Nigerians and, indeed, all of you will hear our resolution. But we are working towards resolving all the issues as a family. And, by the grace of God, we are going to achieve that.’
When further asked if the PDP Governors’ Forum have passed a vote of confidence on the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) as led by Prince Uche Secondus, Governor Tambuwal simply replied “Thank you very much” and left the newsmen guessing.
