How Akande, Olabiyi, Envoy, 4 Ex-LG Chairs United For APC Ward Congress
Some bigwigs of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Itesiwaju Local Government Area of Oyo State came together in unity as the ward congress of the party was held across the country, yesterday.
Those who united for the congress in the council area included former Chief of Staff to Governor Abiola Ajimobi and chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Professor Adeolu Akande who voted in Ward 8, Otu and Honourable Kola Olabiyi, a former member of the House of Representatives who voted in Ward 5, Okaka.
While Ambassador Debo Adesina, a former editor of the Guardian Newspaper and the Nigerian Ambassador to Togo, was unavoidably absent, his supporters across the council turned out in their hundreds to be part of the congress.
Four former chairmen of the local government area who also teamed up with others for congress included Ipade Olarinre (1999-2001); Thomas Olayode (2001-2003); Olarinre Adisa (2011-2015); and Abdulfatai Niyi Adeagbo (2016-2019) who voted in Ward 4, Komu, in Ward 5, Okaka and in Ward 4, Komu, respectively.
Other APC leaders in the local council area included Dejo Adebisi, former Senior Special Assistant to the late Governor Abiola Ajimobi, who voted in Ward 10 and former local government councilors and elders of all progressives politics since 1999.
The only notable personality in the APC in the council area who was conspicuously absent during the exercise was Jiboye Omodewu, the Commissioner for Lands and Housing under Governor Ajimobi.
However, a mammoth crowd turned up in Ward 9 in Otu, the base of the former commissioner, to be part of the celebration of the rebirth of the party in Itesiwaju Local Government Area.
