Globacom, telecommunications solutions provider, has launched a new initiative, tagged Device Protection Service, to remove anxieties from customers about the safety of their handheld devices.
The first-of-its-kind initiative in the telecommunications sector in Nigeria is in partnership with Cubecover, the country’s leading technology solutions enabler.
Globacom noted in a press statement that the Device Protection Service will give its customers, new and existing, protection of their mobile devices against screen and water damage.
The offer, it added, was for a small premium, while they receive up to ₦50,000 worth of screen repairs or replacement when damage occurs.
Globacom Head of Value Added Service (VAS), Mr. Mojeed Aluko, disclosed that for just ₦50 per day, customers can cover their devices against screen or water damage at any time.
“There is also a ₦300 subscription for those who would like to pay the premium weekly, while those who prefer to pay the premium monthly only need to pay ₦600 every month.
“With this affordable micro-protection (Device Protection Service), subscribers will receive up to ₦50,000 worth of screen repair free when damage occurs,” he added.
Aluko also disclosed that the Device Protection Service will only be active after the customer maintained an active subscription for one month.
Managing Director of Cubecover, Mr. Deji Macaulay, expressed excitement that the strategic partnership with Globacom was designed to alleviate customers’ worries about phone usage, accidental damage and repairs.
Globacom stated that customers who wish to enjoy the initiative should dial *7013*1# to enrol via USSD, by choosing a daily, weekly, or monthly subscription package.
New customers without Glo SIMs can walk into any Gloworld shop across the country, purchase a SIM and any phone device of their choice and subscribe to the device protection instantly.
Aluko added that “the customer pays the Device Protection Service subscription through deductions from their Glo airtime and they can do so through the option of one-time subscription or auto-renewal.
“After successful payment, the subscriber receives a link to test the integrity of their device screen. Once the screen passes the diagnostic check, the device’s IMEI is registered with Cubecover
