Foremost industrialist, Alhaji Aliko Dangote and Professor Adeolu Akande will speak at the ninth Anniversary Lecture/Award Ceremony of the South-West Guild of Online Publishers (SWEGOP), holding in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Wednesday.
While Dangote, Chairman of Dangote Group, will deliver the Keynote Address, Akande, a former Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), will be the Guest Lecturer at the event.
The SWEGOP 9th Anniversary Lecture and Award Ceremony will hold at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, starting by 2:00 PM on Wednesday.
As stated in a statement jointly signed by SWEGOP Chairman, Bisi Oladele, and Publicity Secretary, Remi Oladoye, the event will attract media professionals, industry leaders, policymakers, and other distinguished guests from across the country.
The anniversary ceremony will celebrate excellence in digital publishing and recognise individuals and institutions for their significant contributions to journalism, governance, and national development.
The awardees at the anniversary lecture/award ceremony include Prince Dotun Oyelade, Oyo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation and Mogaji Wole Arisekola, a renowned businessman and media entrepreneur.
The third awardee is Dr. Babatunde Olomu, the Customs Area Controller (CAC), Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Apapa Port Command, Lagos.
The annual event remains one of SWEGOP’s most prestigious activities as a professional media guild.
“SWEGOP (with our online media platforms) is still focused on highlighting the evolving role of digital media in advancing transparency, accountability, and democratic engagement in Nigeria,” it was stated in the statement.
