The President Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government has approved the construction of 1,000 units of duplexes in the Lekki axis of Lagos.
Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, announced the approval, stating that the 1,000 duplexes were under the Renewed Hope Agenda Estate for Nigerians in the Diaspora.
According to him, the 1,000 duplexes will be located in Lekki Aviation Town, directly opposite the new Lekki International Airport.
“This landmark housing initiative will be financed by the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to provide affordable housing and promote homeownership among Nigerians globally.
“The groundbreaking ceremony for the scheme will be officially conducted by President Tinubu on 29 May, 2025, symbolising the administration’s commitment to infrastructure and diaspora engagement” it was stated in a statement.
According to Dangiwa, the 1,000 duplexes project is not only a response to housing needs, but also a strategic investment in Nigeria’s future.
He emphasised that the estate will feature modern infrastructure, green spaces, reliable security, and efficient drainage systems.
“The Renewed Hope Estate will cater specifically to middle-income earners in the diaspora who wish to invest in real estate back home.
“Each duplex is designed with high-quality finishes and will be equipped with modern amenities to ensure comfort and sustainability,” it was stated.
Meanwhile, Mogaji Wole Arisekola, Chairman of Harmony Gardens & Estate Development Ltd, has reaffirmed the commitment of the company to investing approximately ₦106 billion in the FGN-Harmony Partnership.
The collaboration with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development aimed to tackle housing deficit by partnering with the government to promote the vision of the company’s Executive Managing Director, Hon. (Dr.) Abdullahi Saheed Mosadoluwa, popularly known as The Lagos Landlord.
His initiative, the Ibile Traditional Mortgage, will enable Nigerians at home and abroad to rent-to-own homes with a single-digit interest rate over a tenure of three to 20 years.
The initiative is also expected to create over 5,000 direct and indirect jobs in the construction, logistics, and materials sectors.
Developers and engineers involved in the project have assured that construction will meet international standards.
Harmony Gardens, known for developing seven estates — including Lekki Aviation Town, GranVille Estate, Majestic Bay, The Parliament, and Harmony Casa — referred to the estates as The Seven Citadels of Joy.
The Federal Government has also partnered with local developers and international consultants to ensure timely delivery.
This move further demonstrated the administration’s dedication to bridging the housing gap while boosting investor confidence in the Nigerian property market.
