Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, Jagunmolu Olubadan of Ibadanland, was, on Saturday, installed as the Asiwaju of Ona Ara Land by the Traditional Council of Ona Ara Local Government Area.
The installation of Sanusi, the Chairman/CEO of Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort, was held under the leadership of Oba Kolawole Adegbola, Otun Balogun of Ibadanland.
The event was chaired by the immediate past chairman of the Ona Ara Traditional Council, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, Balogun of Ibadanland, at the Local Government Secretariat.
Oba Adebowale Kamorudeen, Oniladuntan of Laduntan, who represented Oba Kolawole Adegbola, crowned Chief Sanusi as the Asiwaju of Ona Ara Land
The event saw notable dignitaries in attendance, including Chief Bayo Oyero, former President General of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), and many traditional rulers and baales in Ibadanland.
In his welcome address, Oba Ajibola expressed gratitude to the Traditional Council Chairman, Oba Adegbola, for recognising the invaluable contributions of Chief Dotun Sanusi to the development of Ona Ara Land.
Oba Adegbola was represented by the Ona Ara Council of Royal Highnesses, including Oba Kamorudeen JP, Oniladuntan of Laduntan; Oba Muili Mosaderin, Ololosunde of Olosunde; Oba Nureni Yusuf Adegbenro, Alajia of Ajia; Oba Yekini Obisesan, Alakanran of Akanran and Oba Mudashiru Obisesan, Alararomi of Araromi.
Chairman of Ona Ara Local Government Area, Dr. Temitope Kolapo GLORIOUS, commended the leadership of Governor ‘Seyi Makinde.
He highlighted the significant financial contributions of Chief Dotun Sanusi to key projects in the ongoing #NewEra administration in the local government area.
The council chairman remarked that many of the more than 350 achievements recorded during the first 100 day of his administration were made possible the support of Chief Sanusi.
Chief Bayo Oyero emphasised that the conferment of the Asiwaju of Ona Ara title on Chief Sanusi was a well-deserved recognition of his tireless efforts in advancing the development of the community.
Oba Kamorudeen crowned Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi on behalf of the other obas and baales in the Traditional Council of Ona Ara before the representative of the Araba Awo of Ibadanland gave him leaves of honour.
In his speech after the installation, Chief Sanusi stated: “This recognition will further strengthens my resolve to continue my dedication to the service of humanity and the development of our communities. Together, we will keep working for a brighter and more prosperous Oyo State.”
In their various goodwill messages, traditional rulers present, including Oba Olasunkanmi Abioye Opeola, Oniroko of Iroko; Oba Adegbenro, Alajia of Ajia; Oba Gbolagade Muritala Babalola, Onido of Ido and Onilalulupon of Lalupon, praised Chief Sanusi for his efforts in enhancing the Ibadan traditional system.
Chief Dipo Gbenro, representing Alhaji Kola Bolomope, President of the Ona Ara Development Forum (ODF), presented a gift on behalf of the sons and daughters of Ona Ara as a symbol of appreciation to Chief Sanusi’s effort to the development of Ona Ara and Ibadanland.
Other distinguished guests present at the event included Dr. Abib Olamitoye (Chairman, Academy Suites and Ibadan Central Hospital), Iyaloja of Oyo State, Alhaja Saratu Aduke Konibaje, Mogaji Abass Oloko and Mogaji Nurudeen Akinade, representing the Ibadan mogajis.
