Olubadan-designate, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, has received a team of clerics from the Anglican Communion who paid him a visit at his residence.
The visit by the clerics to the soon-to-be crowned Olubadan followed the worship by the Olubadan-designate at the Cathedral of St Peters, Aremo Ibadan, last Sunday.
The Anglican clerics, led by Rt. Rev. Joseph Olatunji Akinfenwa, disclosed that their mission was to pay homage to one of their own and a strong supporter of the Anglican community.
The further said they visited to pray for a peaceful and successful reign of Oba Olakulehin who has been nominated by the Ibadan kingmakers as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Barrister COK Iyanda, the Ibadan North Anglican Chancellor, introduced the entourage to Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.
He stated that the clerics and the Anglican Community were excited to see the Olubadan-designate in church last Sunday, adding that the church attendance gave them the impetus for the visit.
Rt. Rev. Williams Aladekugbe, Bishop of Ibadan North Diocese, prayed for the good health of the traditional ruler and wisdom like that of King Solomon to direct the affairs of Ibadanland.
Aremo Olasunmbo Owolabi Olakulehin who responded on behalf of the Olubadan-designate, thanked the Anglican clerics for the visit.
He disclosed that the attendance of Oba Olakulehin at the church service last Sunday was the initiative of the traditional ruler.
The Aremo said the Olubadan-designate went for the church service as he felt the need to offer his gratitude and thanksgiving to God for his nomination as the next Olubadan of Ibadan.
Meanwhile, the governor of Oyo State, ‘Seyi Makinde, is expected to respond officially to the nomination of the Olubadan-designate any moment from now.
Recalled that the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Sen Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, joined his ancestors on 14 March, 2024 after spending two years on the throne.
