Senator Kola Balogun who represented Oyo South Senatorial District in the ninth Senate stated this in his condolence message to Senator Buhari on the death of his mother, on Tuesday.
The former federal lawmaker said, the ripe old age notwithstanding, he knew that the All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker representing Oyo North Senatorial District will greatly miss his late mother.
Senator Balogun offered words of comfort to Senator Buhari and members of his family, urging them to take a solace in the fact that their matriarch died at an old age and on the last day of the Holy Month of Ramadan.
He described the passage of the late mother of the senator as not only a loss for the Buhari family, but also to her community in Ogbomosoland where her legacies would be remembered forever.
Senator Balogun said it was naturally human for anyone to miss his or her loved ones, no matter how old, but added that it was appointed to every human to live and die at one point or the other.
“Distinguished Senator Abdulfatai Buhari, my wife, Mrs Gbonjubola Kola-Balogun and I sincerely commiserate with you on the passage of your dear mother.
“I will not say that it was a sad development that the matriarch of the Buhari Family died because it is expected of every human to once live and then return to his or her Maker.
“All the same, we must condole with you because no matter how long our loved ones live, we would not want them to leave us. But we would all surely depart from this world at one point or the other.
“It is a thing of joy that Mama Sarat Abeje Buhari died at a very ripe old age of 103. It is, indeed, by the special grace of God that mama lived up to that age at a period when the life expectancy rate stands at 55-65 years.
“More importantly, it is very significant that mama choose a special day to depart from this world. It is remarkable that she died on the last day of the Holy Month of Ramadan.
“While it is true that the Buhari Family and her community will surely miss her, it is worthy to note that mama’s enduring legacies will continue to live on, even across Ogbomosoland,” he said.
Senator Balogun further stated that the death of a mother was an irreplaceable loss, adding that his thoughts and prayers were with Senator Buhari as well as his family during this difficult time.
“I can feel and understand the pain and grief that accompanies the loss of a loved one, especially a mother who holds special place in our hearts and lives.
“The mother-child bond is about the most strongest and enduring connection we may ever have. The realisation of this fact would certainly make the pains of the passage of mama very difficult for you to bear.
“However, Distinguished Senator Buhari, you should count yourself fortunate as mama was acknowledged as a remarkable woman through whom God blessed humanity by nurturing great individuals like you and your siblings.
“My family can only urge you to take solace in the fact that God giveth and taketh as He so wishes. More so, you should remember that mama lived a fulfilled life.
“It pleases the Almighty to grant mama a rare privilege to depart this world in a unique way, peacefully at a remarkable old age of 103 and during the last day of fasting in the Holy Month of Ramadan.
“It is our prayer that Almighty Allah forgive mama’s shortcomings and grant her soul Al-Jannat Firdaos. We also pray He grant you and other family members the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss,” Senator Balogun added in the message.
