The Atiba 9 has described the late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Sen Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, as a remarkable traditional ruler who contributed significantly to the development of Ibadanland.
The Atiba 9, consisting of the nine sidelined children of the Atiba Ruling House, Oyo, stated this in a message to commiserate with the Olubadan-In-Council and the family of the late traditional ruler.
Recalled that Oba Balogun, the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland joined his ancestors last Thursday after a brief illness, at the age of 81.
The Atiba 9, in the statement by its spokesman, Prince Sina Afolabi, extend its deepest condolences to the Olubadan Traditional Council, the Iba Oluyole Royal Family of Oja Oba and the people of Ibadanland on the passing of the first-class traditional ruler.
It further described Oba Balogun as a remarkable individual who made significant contributions to the development and preservation of Ibadan’s culture and traditions.
“His passing is a great loss to the entire community of Ibadanland and his legacy will be remembered and cherished for generations to come.
“Oba Mo’hood Olalekan Balogun was a true educationist, grassroots politician, humanitarian, and philanthropist who dedicated his life to the betterment of Ibadanland.
“His commitment to promoting and elevating the Ibadan people’s culture and traditions was unwavering, and his impact on the community was profound.
‘Throughout his two years as the Olubadan of Ibadanland, he ruled with fairness, equity, and compassion, leaving a lasting impression on all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
“As the most educated Olubadan in history, Oba Mo’hood Olalekan Balogun was deeply devoted to the throne of his forebearers and worked tirelessly to ensure development in every aspect of governance.
“His leadership was characterized by modesty, peace, and tranquility, and he set an example for others to follow.
“He demonstrated that spiritual balance and effective governance can coexist, and his legacy will continue to inspire future leaders,” the nine Atiba children stated in the statement.
They prayed that Allah will accept the soul of the late foremost Ibadan traditional ruler as one of his faithful servants and grant him Al-Janat Fridaous.
“May the memory of the great traditional ruler be a blessing to all who knew him, and may his contributions to Ibadanland never be forgotten.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Olubadan traditional council, the Iba Oluyole Royal family, and the entire Ibadan community during this difficult time.
“We stand in solidarity with you as we mourn the loss of a truly remarkable leader and individual,” the Atiba 9 added in the statement.
