Executive Secretary, Oyo State Primary Health Care Board, Dr Muideen Babatunde Olatunji, stated this during the foundation-laying of a proposed Primary Health Care Centre at Itabo Community, Lanlate recently.
Dr Olatunji, who commended the initiator of the building, Honourable Adebayo Kehinde Lateef, who is the Supervisory Councillor for Health, Ibarapa East Local Government Area.
He stressed that such gesture is the first in the history of PHC in Oyo State, for a supervisory councillor to embark on such huge project.
He eulogised Honourable Lateef for giving a top priority to the health of his people and the entire community.
Olatunji informed that the state government has mapped out the construction of a level-3 PHC in all the 351 wards in the state.
He revealed that 210 facilities have been completed, while 90 facilities are at different stages of completion.
He said the Oyo State government is in partnership with the French Government to equip and upgrade health facilities in the state.
“The state is also enjoying World Bank-assisted project to support revitalization of Primary Health Care Centres.
“In the first phase of the project, 264 facilities have been supported with ₦4.5m each for some of the needed interventions in those facilities in a bid to make them qualitative in service provision for the masses,” he said.
He also said the state government is doing everything possible to provide drugs and other logistics in all the facilities so as to improve quality of life for the citizens.
He further stated that the government has commenced the enlistment of 1,000 vulnerable persons on the Social Health Insurance Scheme.
