Senator Sharafadeen Alli stated this in his congratulatory message to the cleric on the occasion of his 80th birthday anniversary.
The senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District congratulated the renown cleric in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Akeem Abas.
He described Prelate Emeritus Makinde as a true servant of God, who has made tremendous contributions to the growth and development of the Christian faith in Nigeria.
The lawmaker said the dedication of the Prelate Emeritus, his commitment and selflessness in the service of God as well as humanity are evident in the many lives he has touched positively.
“This is a remarkable milestone. It is an honour to join in celebrating such a great man who has made tremendous contributions to the growth and development of the Christian faith in Nigeria.
“The former Prelate Makinde is a shining example of a true servant of God.
“His dedication, commitment, and selflessness in the service of God and humanity are evident in the many lives he has touched positively,” Alli stated.
He said Prelate Emeritus Makinde has inspired and mentored several people in the Christian faith, adding that his impact would continue to be felt by generations to come.
Alli said the leader of the Methodist Church in Nigeria has continued to provide exemplary leadership which had helped to strengthen the church and promote its growth.
The lawmaker said Makinde has led the Church with great wisdom and set a standard that has earned the admiration of many in the Christian community.
He added that Prelate Emeritus Makinde’s contributions to the Nigerian society was beyond the Church.
The federal lawmaker said the cleric has been a voice for the voiceless, championing the cause of the marginalised and downtrodden.
Alli said his advocacy for social justice, peace and unity has earned him respect and admiration among Nigerians from all walks of life.
“As the senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District, I join in celebrating this great man of God whose life has impacted many.
“I pray that God will continue to grant him good health, wisdom, and grace as he continues to work tirelessly for the betterment of the Christian faith in Nigeria and the society at large.
