Ibadan mogajis paid an obeisance visit to the Olubadan-designate, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, at his residence on Thursday.
The visit on Oba Olakulehin by the Ibadan mogajis who are the heads of the various families of indigenes of Ibadan, led by the Aare Egbe Mogaji, Asimiyu Ariori, was in fulfilment of the Ibadan tradition upon the nomination of an Olubadan-designate.
The Executive Committee of the mogajis and others representing the five local government Areas in Ibadan continued the age-long tradition of respect and obeisance to the recently nominated 43rd Olubadan of Ibadan.
Speaking during the visit, Aare Egbe Mogaji Asimiyu Ariori, on behalf of the mogajis, pledged their support to the traditional ruler, praying for sound health and long life during his reign.
He also sought permission for the mogajis to visit the Otun Balogun, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, in line with tradition, noting that same was done to Otun Olubadan Senator Rashid Adewolu Ladoja, after their visit to the late 42nd Olubadan, Oba Mahood Olalekan Ishola Balogun, upon his nomination.
In his response, the Olubadan-designate granted the mogajis their request and appreciated them for the visit, praying that each of them will fulfil their desires on the path to the Olubadan throne.
Chief Osuolale Owolabi, the younger brother to the traditional ruler, on behalf of Oba Olakulehin and the Olakulehin Family, thanked the mogajis for their pledge of support and obeisance to the newly-nominated Olubadan of Ibadan.
Oba Owolabi Olakulehin was nominated as the 43rd Olubadan by the Olubadan-In-Council following the demise of his immediate predecessor, the late Oba Sen Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II.
Oba Balogun joined his ancestors after a brief illness on 14 March, 2024, just a little over two years after he celebrated his second year on the throne.
The choice of Oba Olakulehin as the 43rd Olubadan was in line with the Ibadan tradition, being the most senior in the succession line.
