Members of the Medical and Dental Consultants’ Association of Nigeria (MDCAN), Federal Medical Centre, Owo, Ondo State, has insisted on pursuing their suit against the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the hospital, Dr Ahmed Adeagbo, to a logical conclusion.
This was as the association warned the embattled CMD to desist from influencing ministers and other top brass of the Federal Ministry of Health to allegedly mount pressure on its members to withdraw from the court the case challenging his reappointment.
A member of MDCAN, FMC, Owo, Dr Dominic Igbasan, stated this in a press release issued at the weekend, vowing that the association will not relent until the suit was concluded.
MDCAN described Dr Adeagbo’s alleged moves as embarrassing and a deliberate act to intimidate its members to drop the ongoing case of unlawful reappointment instituted against him.
The association said the CMD should wait for the verdict of the court, “instead of running from pillar to post to influence us with various antics so that we can pull out of court.”
Dr Igbasan claimed that he and other members of the association had been invited to a series of meetings with the former Minister of State for Health, Dr Olorunmbe Mamora, the Permanent Secretary and other directors of the ministry over the litigation issue.
“But our stand is still unabated because we want to follow due process of the law to correct the anormaly so that it serve as deterrent to others who may want to play smart in future.
“Dr Mamora and his team appealed to us to resolve the issue amicably. But we are determined to see the end of the legal battle because judiciary is still the last hope of common people,” he said.
Igbasan also claimed that Mamora’s successor, Dr Osagie Ehanire, held a meeting with the MDCAN members and the CMD, last week, adding that the meeting was centred on how to resolve the lingering legal tussle.
“We were in Abuja, last week, for a meeting with the new Minister of State for Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire. The meeting lasted for over one hour and he was just appealing to us but we remained resolute on the matter.
“The fact still remains that we are not having personal issue with Dr Adeagbo”, he said, adding; “What we are fighting against is an injustice and the cause is a collective struggles which will benefit everyone, even his children in future if they happen to work in FMC Owo in the nearest future.
Igbasan insisted that the CMD became jittery because he knew that MDCAN, FMC, Owo has a very good case, hence his resort to influencing people to appeal to members of the association.
“If he knew the court verdict will favour him, he won’t be running helter skelter to influence people to beg us to settle out of court.
“He should please allow us to rest, after all, we are not saying we have tired of contributing money for the logistics and our counsels have not complained that we have not met the financial obligations.
“Therefore, he should stop sending people to us to appeal to us to resolve the issue out of court. He should know that ‘No Victor No Vanguished’, may God be on our side,” Dr Igbasan added.
