Lending a helping hand, to people, both the rich and the poor, when you are in a position to do so will surely come back to you positively, writes Doyinsola Ilori.
You need help.
You’ve turned to people you think should be able to help you: Family. Friends. Acquaintances. Even strangers.
Yet no one, not one single person has been able to come through for you.
You then turn bitter.
Become negatively philosophical.
Subtly angry, etc.
Wondering why people are so mean to you?
I have a question for you.
“When you were buoyant, did it ever occur to you to give anything to any of the people you have been pushed to ask for help now?”
Just curious here ni o.
Most likely you didn’t.
Right?
Without gloating or bragging, let me teach you something. unique about me again today.
If I seek your friendship, man or woman, first off, know it’s because I saw something good, most likely about your character or sense of responsibility to humanity.
I love good people. I’ve said this too many times.
Now, if I seek your friendship, even when you are obviously more richer, powerful, intelligent, good looking and better behaved than me, I put my money or gift on you, small as it may be, compared to your more enormous everything.
I do it, not because I want an immediate reciprocal reaction. The gesture is my way of sowing in what I believe in.
Ọlọ́run o nii jẹ o. I feel that if I have to tap into such resources should I ever need to, they are most likely to come up for me. Some will, if not all of them.
When your barn is full. Learn to sow some of your seeds. Don’t eat them all. Who knows when you’d need to cash out on them?
And when I say sow, I don’t mean to poor people o. I mean to people that have, even if your seed is like a drop in their ocean.
Many are wont to say: “pay goods deeds forward.” I have a style. I don’t just pay good deeds forward. I reciprocate them too.
Many people ask me and I say NO, because I can’t do anything then. Just like, several have not asked me. And I have done my minute bit to celebrate or appreciate them.
It all just depends on the situation of things at that point in time.
